Wildcat Warm Up

On Monday, August 20th, from 1-4 PM, you can go to the middle school to walk your schedule, practice opening your locker, and meet your teachers. You will already have received your schedule on Skyward, as well as your locker number and combination.

If you can’t open your locker, ask one of the teachers who’s nearby to help you. Everyone needs help opening their locker at one point or another, so don’t hesitate to ask for help. This is also the time to decorate the inside of your locker, or bring a locker shelf or magnetic pencil holder to put inside. Bring wet wipes to wipe down the inside of your locker before you use it!  If you’re planning on putting wall paper inside your locker, the lockers are 1′ wide, 1’1″ deep, and 2’6″ tall.

You also need to stop by the gym to get your gym locker and combination. Make sure to practice with your gym locker too. Look on the lockers/gym lockers page for instructions to opening your locker.

The gym is in the front hall of the school.

Also, go to the cafeteria to buy a PE uniform, or pick up a pre-ordered one. You can pre-order your uniform here. Wearing your uniform (and tennis shoes) counts as 50% of your PE grade. If you need to, put an extra pair of tennis shoes in your gym locker so that you don’t need to remember them every day. You may also want to buy two pairs of gym clothes, so they don’t need to be washed as often.

There will be several tables set up in the cafeteria. In addition to getting a PE uniform, you can purchase West Ridge gear from the school store and sign up for clubs. Parents can sign up to volunteer or donate to the school. Visit the booster club website for more information.

Walking your schedule means going to each of your classes in order, just like you would on a normal school day. Stop into each of your teacher’s classrooms and ask them questions if you have any. Meeting your teacher before hand will help you feel less overloaded on the first day of school. While walking your schedule, check out the back outside doors of the school. You can use these to get to your classes faster.

If the stairs that you take to get downstairs to upstairs (or vice versa) are crowded, there are outdoor stairs too.

The back doors all connect to a sidewalk that goes all the way from one side of the building to the other. In the center, there’s a small circular amphitheater.

On Monday, August 20th, from 4:30-6:30 PM is the sixth grade pool party. Visit the counselors’ webpage for more information about this event.
